Luke Combs Shares New Unreleased Songs After Daytona 500 Performance

Luke Combs thrilled NASCAR fans at the Daytona 500 with a live performance ahead of the 63rd running of The Great American Race.

Combs performed to a limited number of fans at the World Center of Racing in Daytona, Florida while millions streamed the event online.

The country superstar took the stage to sing some of his favorite songs including “Cold As You” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

Combs donned an Earnhardt branded leather jacket for his performance in honor of the 20th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s passing. Earnhardt died during NASCAR’s Daytona 500 in February 2001.

The Daytona 500 performance marked Combs’ first live in-person concert since February 14th 2020, when Covid-19 struck and public gatherings were banned.

The award winning singer got stuck in bad weather on his way from Daytona 500 and he ultimately decided to perform some of his unleased songs.

Combs was unable to get home due to the ongoing winter weather conditions, his songwriter buddies and him decided to use the time wisely to write some new songs which he shared on Twitter.

“Haven’t been able to get home from Daytona yet because of the weather, so we’re just hanging out and I figured I’d share a new song I’ve been working on with @ChanningWilson and @BigRobSnyder. It’s called “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old.” What do y’all think?” Luke Combs tweeted.

“I still hit them dive bars every once in a blue moon / got a wild card that I keep inside my boot / I been thinking lately maybe I should save it / Cause them hangovers sure kick my ass these days / I spend most my happy hours here at home / but in the middle of growin’ up and gettin’ old,” Combs sings in the chorus.

He goes on…

“But I can still raise hell all night with the boys when I want to / lay that hammer down to see how fast she’ll go / but these days I hang my hat on what I won’t do / And I been findin’ peace of mind slowin’ my role / Learn to tow that line with time as it goes / I’m in the middle of growin up and gettin’ old.”

Combs is slated to stream a ‘What You See Is What You Get’ tour concert replay on February 18th via Facebook and YouTube.
