Darius Rucker has once again bounced back with a new hit song dubbed ‘My Masterpiece’ that has a rather interesting backstory behind it.
Darius Rucker is by far one of the musicians you can listen to every day, all year long without getting enough, and his latest song ‘My Masterpiece’ is already a classic, and it’s only a few days old.
Darius’s latest single has been taken off a forthcoming studio album currently in the works!
The ‘My Masterpiece’ single was inspired by Rucker’s intentions of wanting to learn how to play the piano. Once J.T. Harding heard his response to a question posed at him if he’s any good at playing the piano, he instantly knew that they had to write a song around his “I can’t play piano like Ray Charles”.
“One of the most common questions I got asked last year was if I had picked up a new hobby during quarantine. I always answered that I was trying to learn piano, and someone asked if I was any good yet. One of the writers, J.T. Harding, heard my response in that interview – ‘I can’t play piano like Ray Charles’ – and knew we had to write a song around that line.”
So, Darius Rucker, J.T. Harding together with some of the sought-after Nashville hitmakers today, Ross Copperman, and Josh Osborne sat down and wrote a beautiful song, a romantic song around Rucker’s lines.

And it came out perfectly, just right. You actually gets to appreciate the line just right after listening to Darius Rucker singing the same in the chorus of the song.
After Darius Rucker’s ‘Beers & Sunshine’ he earned his tenth number 1 single at country radio in his career.
