Taking to social media, Cody Wolfe who is regarded as one of the coolest and humble country musicians today opened up in-depth about how his hit song ‘Don’t Blame Your Drunk On Me’ changed his whole life as he knows it.

Cody Wolfe admitted that he almost gave up pursuing his longtime dream of becoming a country musician, a successful one, he was even depressed one time even got angered by the success of other artistes in the music industry, of course with no ill intention whatsoever, it’s just that he was in a dark place.
Thanks to his best friend, he got around to cut the ‘Don’t Blame Your Drunk On Me’ single that he wrote some time back after one writer who screwed him over bounced on him when he was ready to record a song they wrote together dubbed ‘Listen To Willie’.

A broke Cody Wolfe decided to heed to his best friend’s word and record ‘Don’t Blame Your Drunk On Me’ as cheaply as possible expecting nothing much from the song but to his surprise, the song blew up tremendously even shocking the independent Nashville recording artist himself.

It’s safe to say that the ‘Don’t Blame Your Drunk On Me’ song has literally opened enough doors for Cody Wolfe than he would have imagined, thanks to the success of the song which ideally didn’t have any promotions whatsoever, Wolfe got to make a name for himself in the country music.
He was on billboards as well, he was also in jukeboxes in over 200,000 bars and restaurants and even a Grammy Award-winning record label, Empire reached out to him asking him to sign with them.

Ya’ll when I released this song, I didn’t think I would ever have a shot at having a music career. My career fell apart and I was at rock bottom. I was in a couple of car wrecks in Nashville and was forced to move back home.
I had no money, no hope at all I was depressed and felt like giving up. Also angered by the success of other artists when it seemed so hard for me and so easy for them. My best friend urged me to cut this song after a writer in town screwed me over.
I had already booked a recording session to record a song we wrote called “Listen To Willie” but the other writer didn’t cover his end of the deal. It was then my best friend said “Hey whatever happened to that Don’t Blame Your Drunk On Me song you wrote, I think you should cut that one” so last minute I decided to cut it as cheaply as possible mind you. Like I said I was broke.
Before this, my music only got about 3,000 streams at the most, and maybe if I was really lucky 100 downloads. I remember the day it dropped. I was at a campsite with my girlfriend at the time. I had a feeling in my stomach, man what if people hate it? I was so nervous.
I watched as the comments started pouring in. Then I couldn’t believe the streaming numbers, over 100k streams on Vevo without any advertising or playlists. Roughly 10,000 downloads with no marketing at all. I was like what the hell? I wrote this on my best friend’s couch.
Next thing I know people are asking me to sign stuff and treating me like some star. My music was getting radio play and a Grammy Winning Label EMPIRE reached out to me and asked me to sign with them. All of Nashville started to know me.
Next thing I know I’m everywhere. Billboards, Jukeboxes in over 200k bars and restaurants all over I did an east coast tour and people came to every single show even though it was in a different state people knew me.
