Rory Feek, one-half of country singing duo Joey + Rory, is set to release his first solo music album sometimes in July this year.
Dubbed “The Gentle Man”, the new album means a lot to the singer who was taking it slow on his music career following the death of his wife.
Feek lost his wife Joey Feek to cancer in March 2016 and he was totally devastated. At the time, he indicated that he would not perform or sing without her.
After Joey passing, Feek sidelined his music career for nearly four years to focus on books, his blog and a documentary about his life.
Feek turned to “This Life I Live” blog to tell his story and his wife’s life, chronicling her illness and eventual passing, and what he grapples with as a suddenly single father. The blog led to a memoir, and then a docu-series of the same name.
Feek nonetheless went back to his true passion – singing. He was able to record his first-ever solo album “The Gentle Man” which will be released on Gaither Records on June 18th.
The new album will feature a collaboration with Vince Gill and a cover of a Bob Dylan classic. Feek’s friends will join him on the album launch.
The ACM and Grammy winning singer and songwriter introduced his album with a cover of a popular rock song: His version of Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin”.
“The Times They are A Changin’ – New Music Video from Rory Feek …on January 13, 1964, Bob Dylan released what was to become one of his most famous songs, “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” Nearly 60 years later, those words seem as relevant, profound, and prophetic as they did then… This is the first release from Rory Feek’s upcoming solo album, coming out in June 2021,” wrote Rory Feek on Instagram.
